A Journey Through Seasonal Poetry and Reflection

Untitled

it would be nice
to find that seed
between my teeth
the tongue plays at it
the fingers can’t reach it
those words
I’m sorry

the cat jingles behind us
wakes an owl perched
on a thick branch above
prey quickly breaks past the
corner street lamp

fruit flesh is overrated
softens and bruises easily
our hearts keep the core
the pit of it lives

taste me
test me
know your love
is like the sun

I wrote this poem in 2019. This is a second draft. I am going through my old drafts this week. I met up with two poet friends to edit and discuss each other’s poems at a local deli. The weather in western Washington dipped below 40 degrees today. Snow is forecast for next week. The sky is flat gray. Is this the in-between times?
