THE PLAYHOUSE CLASSIC BLUES

HOSTED BY BOOSIE VOX

The Playhouse aired late night on KMRE 102.3 FM, Saturdays 10 pm, from 2011-2015.  It featured the classic blues from the 1920-1970’s, historical notes, and a whole bunch of attitude.

“This show is close to my heart. Doing research for the program, sometimes requiring a “rolled-sleeves afternoon” in the SPARK Museum basement, revealed a niche time in music history helping me to connect with the songs and stories told.  It was an enriching experience that I hope transfers to the listener.

I hold great honor & respect for the musical masters , folks like Etta James, Howlin’ Wolf, Led Belly, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Bessie Smith, Big Mama Thornton and Nina Simone, who built the very foundation American music is based on. This is music loved in every country on the planet! We all moan. We all get the blues. It’s what makes us human.”  ~Shannon Laws, producer
